Next garage project on the docket. Picked up a gear pump and electric motor off of kijiji.
Max RPM of the motor is 1725.
Max RPM of the gear pump is 1800.
I cant find the actual specs for the pump but i did find the specs for a similar unit.
BRASS GEAR PUMP WITH STAINLESS STEEL SHAFT AND
GEARS. PUMPS WATER, BRINE, CALCIUM, DYES, SYRUPS, JUICE,
BEVERAGES, GAZ, FUEL, OIL, POULTRY WATERING ETC.
1/2" NPT SUCTION AND DISCHARGE.
MAXIMUM PUMP REVOLUTION SPEED: 1800 RPM
PULLEY RATIO CALCULATION:
MOTOR RPM X MOTOR PULLEY DIAM.
-------------------------------= PUMP PULLEY DIAM.
PUMP RPM
OR
PUMP RPM X PUMP PULLEY DIAM.
---------------------------= MOTOR PULLEY DIAM.
MOTOR RPM
CAPACITY: FEET PSI RPM HP GPH
0 0 900 1/3 300
1200 1/3 360
1800 1/3 600
57 25 900 1/3 280
1200 1/3 330
1800 1/3 580
115 50 900 1/3 240
1200 1/2 300
1800 1/2 480
173 75 900 1/2 210
1200 3/4 275
1800 3/4 420
231 100 900 3/4 160
1200 3/4 215
1800 1 330
So the question is, do I want my driven pulley to have torque or high rpm ?
Small drive pulley + large driven pulley = torque
Large drive pulley + small driven pulley =high rpm
