New opendata contest for Ottawa coming!

Another open-data contest is planned as the city looks to improve the way it offers raw information that developers can use to make helpful apps.

The app contest is expected to be held early next year and further details are expected at a future meeting.

The city held its first app contest in 2010-2011 after starting an open-data policy centred on the philosophy that certain city-collected and managed data should be readily available to anyone, in a “machine-readable” format, without copyright restrictions, patents or other controls on its use.

Time to blow snow … just need snow now

Was driving by our new house today and noticed that our new neighbor down the street was selling their old snowblower on the front lawn!

$75 later I am now the owner of an older Master Craft 25” SnowBlower, 5HP Tecumseh, 6 Forward – 2 Reverse snowblower. Owner(Bob) has had the blower for at least 8 years and the machine started on the second pull.

Thats definitely a win for me, here are some pics.

If the 5HP Tecumseh is a little too tired I can always grabe a 6.5HP Honda clone from Princess Auto for $112.
